High-alumina castables Unlike traditional shaped refractory bricks, high-alumina castables are unshaped refractory materials with an alumina content greater than 48%. They are composed of aggregates such as high-alumina bauxite and corundum, powders, and auxiliary materials such as binders and additives. They appear as granular dry mixtures. When water is added in a specific ratio (usually 5%-8%) and stirred, the dry mixture rapidly transforms into a thixotropic slurry, which is then poured into the gaps of a building to form a solid, monolithic wall. It possesses advantages such as high high-temperature strength, good wear resistance, strong corrosion resistance, convenient construction, and strong adaptability, and is widely used in high-temperature industrial fields such as steel, non-ferrous metals, power, and petrochemicals.
